SPECIAL EDUCATION

Special Education (also known as special-needs education, aided education, exceptional education) is the practice of educating children in a way that addresses their individual differences and special needs. Special Educators play crucial role in Developmental Delay, Learning Disorders, Planning of day-to-day activities etc.

Ideally, this process involves the individually planned and systematically monitored arrangement of teaching procedures, adapted equipment and materials, and accessible settings which is beneficial for the children with, Learning Disabilities (such as Dyslexia), Communication- Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (Autism and ADHD), Physical Disabilities (Cerebral Palsy etc.) and Developmental Disorders (such Intellectual Disabilities, etc.) and in other cases also.
It is crucial for special education programs to be individualized so that the unique of needs of each child can be addressed. Individualized Education Program (commonly referred to as IEP) is a document, which clearly defines the individual goal and objectives set for a child with a disability. IEPs are developed by a team including the Special Educator, Parents, and any supporting member well oriented to the child. The followings must be included in IEP:
  1. Child’s present levels of academic and functional performance.
  2. Measurable annual goals, including academic and functional goals etc.
